Cinchona officinalis L., known as Quina or Cascarilla, currently has very little population due to the pressure it suffered to obtain Quinine and the increase in the agricultural frontier. In view of this problem and in an attempt to recover this species of great value it is desired to obtain an optimal propagation technology. In the present article the Germinative Power (PG) of seeds was evaluated according to 2 pre-germinative treatments (soaking of seeds for 5 days in permanent cold water and changing it daily) and to their storage time; the biological material came from trees that are candidates for seedbeds located in the Buffer Zone of the Pagaibamba Protection Forest - Chota. Determining that there is no difference of PG between treatments and the control, but the soaking of seeds changing the water daily accelerated and homogenized the germination. In addition, the decrease in P.G. depending on the storage time it can be represented by the model % P. G.= 𝑒 (4.7229−0.0496∗𝑚𝑒𝑠𝑒𝑠) . 𝜖, which has an 𝑅 2 of 0.882; It is estimated that Quina seeds of the identified seed trees lose all their viability around 3 years. |
