The study aimed to identify the genera of bacterial, parasitic and mycotic agents present in guinea pigs from 0 to 7 days of age killed during the cold season (July to September 2012) at the National Institute of Agrarian Innovation (INIA) in the Department from Lima Peru. For this, we enrolled 30 guinea pigs with less than 2 hours post-mortem, which were identified and transported at 4º C. Then, the necropsy was performed and organ samples were taken (lung, heart, liver, spleen, intestines and kidneys), stool and skin (swabs and scrapes). These samples were processed through bacterial culture (TSA, Mac Conkey, Blood, SS and XLD agars) and biochemistry for identified of enterobacteria (Citrate, Kligler, LIA, SIM and Urea), fungus culture (Sabouraud agar culture) and parasitological methods (direct, Sheater and Ritchie). The etiological agent of greater presentation was the bacterium Salmonella sp. (46.7%); the only parasitological genus identified was Eimeria sp. (26.7%) and no case of fungal infection. |
