| es_PE |
dc.description.abstract | Dermatophytosis is a recurring problem in breeding guinea pigs. The lack of a specific diagnosis and treatment leads to the disease spreading to the population of this species. The most affected are rebreeding guinea pigs. This study was conducted in INIA (National Institute of Agricultural Innovation), where lesions samples with clinically compatible fungal infection grade III and IV of 21 rebreeding male guinea pigs were taken, which were grouped into three treatment groups called group A (using Allium sativum) , group B (applying Aloe vera) and group C (Control) . Before starting the natural treatment, hairs and scales of the lesions were analyzed in order to confirm that the causative agent was a dermatophyte. It was determined that the presentation of dermatophytes is more frequently produced by Trichophyton mentagrophytes. Subsequently, the product was applied once starting treatment and was assessed over six weeks. We conclude that both natural products were safe because no side effects were found and in turn, shown to be effective in the treatment of dermatophytes, being Allium sativum which had the higher rate of inhibition. | en |
